Green Dash is a Convenient, Easy Way to Tour Manchester

Green and Dash....two words near and dear to the GSA's.....we love Green and we certainly Dash around the state assisting all our wonderful visitors....so today we had a wonderful tour of Manchester and we rode on the Manchester Transit Authority's Green Dash.....the Manchester circulator (hop on, hop off) bus.

The Green Dash operates Monday through Friday, every 10 minutes from 7:00-9:00 A.M; 11:30-1:30 P.M. and 4:00-7:00 P.M. Other times it is every 20 mins.

What's not to like....it has a Hybrid engine so environmentally friendly....I did mention the word Green didn't I?...it is Free....and on a very user friendly schedule.....It follows a figure 8 pattern from Granite St. to Elm with a left on Spring St. and then a right on Commercial and back to Elm by West Brook and back to Spring to catch the other end of Commercial St. and back to Granite Street.....You can't miss it literally and figuratively....bright Green with Mr. Dash painted on the side and his character and the creative art on the side of the bus were both donated by two wonderful NH craftsmen!!! It is, of course, handicapped accessible and on a wintery day you can be "Dashing through the snow" to that old, familiar tune!

Highlander Inn Offers History, Conference Space, Parking and Much More!

As a Granite State Ambassador, I recently was able to tour the Highlander Inn and Conference Center in Manchester, NH. The Highlander is the only hotel and conference center at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. You may be at the airport but you are on nestled on 33 tree filled acres. And the Highlander Inn has been in the hospitality business for over 100 years

The Highlander Inn offers 65 guest rooms and the Coldwell House has an additional 21 New England Country Style guest rooms. This makes the Highlander an ideal location for your business meeting or conference, wedding, anniversary party, or the party of your choice with up to 150 guests. The conference center is fully equipped to provide you with all of your culinary delights whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or just party snacks.

The Highlander Inn is also a great way to get a good nights rest before your early morning flight without the early morning hassles of driving to the airport by providing a stay and park rate. The Highlander provides you with free shuttle service to and from the airport which is only one half mile away. 

The Highlander also offers the Highlander Airport Parking and Shuttle Service - the only parking facility at the airport that offers reservations for parking while you are traveling. The parking services are first class and at discounted prices in parking lots that are safe and secure. They also provide luggage assistance and 24-hour shuttle service. 

If you live in the Manchester area, take advantage of your opportunity to rekindle your prior experiences with the Highlander by spending the night.  The lobby of the Highlander has some great historical photo’s of the property on display.

REMEMBER that the Highlander Inn and Conference Center will be closing on December 31, 2011.  BUT until then it is business as usual, and they will continue to provide the excellent guest customer service that they are well noted for.

Round and Round We Go! Manchester's New Downtown Circulator

Hey GSAs, residents, and visitors alike, have you heard about the new “Free Downtown Circulator”?  It runs every day in downtown Manchester from 7:00 am until 7:10 pm.  Leaving from Veteran’s Park bus stop (a few steps from our Welcome Center at the corner of Merrimack & Elm Streets), it continues north along Elm Street to Spring Street then west on Spring Street into the Millyard’s Commercial Street, then north to West Brook Street, east on West Brook Street to Elm Street and then south on Elm Street back to Spring Street where it again enters the Millyard but heads South this time to Granite Street.  It then heads east on Granite Street to Elm Street where is turns north and stops at Veteran’s Park where it then begins another loop.

It runs every 20 minutes and stops at the regular bus stops on Elm Street and anywhere “you” want to get on or off on Commercial Street, West Brook Street and Granite Street.  What an excellent way to see downtown Manchester and the Millyard.  One can access the Millyard Museum, SEE Science Center, Fisher Cats’ Stadium, Fratello’s Restaurant, the City’s art gallery at the Rines Center, restaurants in the vicinity of Bridge and Elm Streets or maybe just a way to cool off on a hot day in downtown (or warm up in the Winter months).
